SUPPLIESThe start of the school year is fast approaching! You do not have to wait for the first day of school to know the supplies you need for math. Purchase the following items ahead of time to have a less hectic start to the year.
Calculators are provided for in-class work. However, we are unable to send these calculators home with students. If possible, please purchase a calculator for use at home to assist with assignments. Any four function calculator will do. Pictured to the left is the TI-30X IIS , which is used at school.

In conjunction with the continued use of agenda books this school year, the eighth grade team of teachers will be using a program called Remind 101. Remind 101 allows us to send text messages out to users without ever knowing the users' phone numbers. Both parents and students are encouraged to use this program to stay up-to-date on nightly homework, project deadlines, and other announcements pertinent to eighth grade. To learn more about Remind 101 click here. To sign up, follow the directions on the pdf file below.

Students are expected to... Homework Guidelines
Homework is an important part of learning, because it gives students the extra practice they need with the material being taught in class. By having this extra practice, they will remember the material longer and move towards mastery. This is important when it comes to their future education and state required standardized assessments. What to Expect
Since homework is to help students grow towards mastery, they are allowed to correct their papers for a better score. The most important thing is that by the end of any unit of study students are able to correctly complete all the problems. Guidelines:
*For weekly lesson plans showing homework assignments, click here. Absences The best way not to follow behind is by coming to school everyday. However, we realize that illness and family emergencies do happen. Please review the following information: As eighth grade students, students are being given more responsibilities. Part of this responsibility will be to collect their own absent work. In the classroom, there is an absent work station. There students can find binders containing daily learning targets and homework. With these binders, there are also hanging files containing all papers used organized by day of the week. Collecting these papers will not be enough for students to learn the missed material. They will need to obtain notes form a fellow classmate. Additionally, they may even need to look up instructional videos online for assistance. All policies set forth in the student handbook will be followed. |
